Burr discusses his service in the 29th Division, 116th regiment of the US Army, 1941-1944. He trained for the invasion on D-Day in England, practicing at Slapton Sands. He describes the Channel crossing, the landing on Omaha Beach, German fire, climbing the hills, fighting in the hedgerows, his wound and transfer to a hospital ship, and Cushing Hospital.

Burr was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1918. He graduated from Warren Harding High School and worked at Chance Vought Aircraft Factory, both before and after the war. He was drafted in the Army in 1941.
